Susan McGalla

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- There exists a flood of advice on the market for women who wish to advance inside their careers going into 2015, however, many obtain the information on the market is a lot too pandering or generic. Susan P. McGalla, the founding father of P3 Executive Consulting, LLC, has specialized consultant to clients on branding, marketing, talent management, operational efficiencies and much more. She's discussed her opinion of getting ahead as being a woman operational to a lot of audiences, such as the Females and Girl's Foundation Pittsburgh possibly at the Carnegie Mellon University Speaker Series for CEOs, but today sherrrd like to express her story.

"Most women I talk to are trying to find a traditional perspective containing program," says McGalla. "The buzzwords and party lines have grown to be hollow to women who don't wish to be targeted as women, but because professionals."

"The evolution that has occurred is quite encouraging," McGalla adds.

Susan McGalla grew up within a household with two older brothers and a football coach father who would not cut her any slack even though she was a girl. "I was described by parents who encouraged me to be effective hard and offer my ideas with full confidence regardless of audience," says McGalla. Her gender and-- maybe more importantly-- other's genders were considered neither helpful nor hindering.

"As an end result, I have forever been equally comfortable with women and men and excelled when controling both," McGalla explains. This confidence was instrumental to her success. McGalla received her BA from Mount Union College before commencing her career at the Joseph Horne Company. In 1994 she found her foothold working for American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.

"When I joined American Eagle, it absolutely was a predominantly male company with no women about the board or perhaps in executive positions. To their credit, through efforts and success, I excelled there which has a career which was an experience of a lifetime," McGalla says. "My ascension there were to blame for an authentic culture change where males and females alike constructed the fact that was probably the most successful, aspirational corporate cultures within the timeframe of 2000 to 2010." McGalla held various management positions with American Eagle Outfitters, Inc., eventually rising to get obama and chief merchandising officer of American Eagle Outfitters, Inc., accountable for the P&L, revenues of $3B, four brands as well as an e-commerce site.

Since that time Susan McGalla has taken the reins of her career, learning to be a consultant for your top people finance when they need an insider's perspective for the world of retail. Having autonomy over her career can be a luxury afforded by a lot of work, flexibility, and pursuing something she was excited about. McGalla says her gender never really included in her career goals.

"My angle about this within my career has not been to 'break the glass ceiling,'" McGalla explains. "To make the point, Irrrve never carried a chip on my shoulder of the items I will qualify as a woman or what prejudices existed."

Susan McGalla hopes more women take this same approach and attitude because of their careers starting 2015.
